In the long run, horses were substituted by the first motor means; in 1925 Ricci family bought their first truck, which they equipped with benches for people’s public transport.

Around 1930 they even bought the first coach. At the same time, Mr. Ricci’s father, who was about 20 years old, and his three younger brothers, began to work in their family business.

This all went on until 1940, when World War II broke out. Ricci family’s life and work style changed completely.

One of Mr. Ricci’s uncles had to leave to Albania and Jugoslavia to do his military service as a driver at the corps headquarters.
Another Mr. Ricci’s uncle went away as a clandestine, and he joined the partisans as a volunteer, because he didn’t share the fascism ideas.

Mr. Ricci’s father luckily was exempted from military service, because he was the eldest of 8 children, and he stayed home, attending to the family business. At the arrival of the German troops, troubles increased: in 1943 they requisitioned 8 coaches.

At the end of the war, all the brothers were back home, and the company could take his regular activity again. But it had no more means of transport, and even no money to buy them again.

They took notice of a truck, abandoned by the American troops, because he had been set on fire; Ricci family didn’t hesitate, they took it to arrange it for people public transport. In 1946 the public transport truck were two.

In 1948 people said that in Assisi there were a miracle: the statue of the Virgin Mary in Santa Maria degli Angeli seemed to move as it were alive.

People in Siena began to ask means of transport to go there and see the miracle (as a matter of fact it was only an optical effect!); this travel was pretty impossible with the trucks.

So Mr. Ricci’s father went to buy a new 35 seats coach, branded Isotta Fraschini, one of the most famous and glamorous firm at that time.

And they began to travel. Mr. Ricci’s mother, who was working as a teacher at the primary school, stayed home to take orders by the clients and keep in touch with them, while his husband and his brothers continued going to and from.

After, the means were increased, as the client demand and requests did. In 1952 Ricci family began to travel abroad, especially to Paris, Wien and Switzerland.

This is the way Ricci Family began tourism activity. Today, 2006, our activity goes on successfully, thanks to Mr. Ricci’s daughter and son.

We continue the collaboration with Daimler-Chrysler, supplying firm of our means of transport, always in the van and perfectly maintained.
